- Plasma volume (\uparrow) 50%, RBC (\uparrow) 25%, so dilutation occurs, maximally at 32 weeks.
- Increases folic acid requirements
- Leukocytosis - mainly neutrophilia (left shift may also been seen more immature cells)
- Thrombocytopenia - no pathological significance and recovers
- Pro-thrombotic state however - coagulation factor increase, and clot breakdown decreases
