In an attempt to overcome -lactamase resistance, penicillins have been combined with a -lactamase inhibitors such as: co-amoxiclav (amoxicilliin + clavulanic acid), Tazocin (piperacillin + tazobactam)
Staph resistance is defined by stability to methicillin (IV only equivalent to flucloxacillin)
