Indications* HTN * Angina * Supraventricular dysrhythmias * MI prophylaxis * Migraine prophylaxis
Contra-indicationsasthma, HF, 2nd/3rd degree Heart Block, bradycardia, COPD
Side-effects* Lethargy * Bradycardia * AV block
InteractionsDo not use with Diltiazem or verapamil (CCBs) as increased risk of bradycardia - use an α blocker instead Insulin - masks symptoms of Hypoglycaemia
Elimination50% urine 50% faeces
Additional NotesAtenolol selective for β1 receptors except in high doses
